10 IDEAS TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY + Women's history month

Updated: Mar 17, 2023

1 - HOST A WOMEN'S CIRCLE

Gather the women in your life for a couple hours of connection, creativity and collaboration in a space where you can all be yourselves. With the chaos of navigating our world, a goddess circle is a gathering for women to come together, share their stories and create community. Learn how to start your own women's circle with this step-by-step guidebook full of fun activity ideas.

2 - EXPLORE MOTHER NATURE

Get out into the great outdoors and breathe that fresh air. Whether you're in the mountains, desert, country or city, find your nearest natural habitat and spend some time earthing and celebrating our mother! Get together a group of women for a wilderness trek, or even better, plan a women's retreat or camping trip!

3 - MAKE A VISION BOARD

We can honor the women who came before us by becoming our best selves. Making a vision board is a fun and creative way to remind yourself of those who inspire you, and help to manifest and direct where you want to go. Gather photos, illustrations and imagery that inspires you and grab a frame, canvas or object and some modpodge to start collaging and envisioning the life you want to lead! Everyone loves a good craft day!

4 - EXPERIENCE A BATHING RITUAL

Visit a bathhouse, hot spring or spa and nourish your body and celebrate yourself among others who are also nourishing themselves. A public bathhouse is usually a relaxing, safe and body-positive space to exist freely and cherish the skin you're in. Most are separated by gender, some are swimsuit optional, and others require that you soak nude and shower beforehand. Soaking in a room full of women of all different ages, shapes and sizes loving their own skin is one of the most empowering experiences we've ever had.

5 - LEARN SOMETHING NEW - TAKE A CLASS!

Just try something! Whether it's ceramics, photography, dancing, a foreign language, or a cooking class, it's never too late to learn a new skill! Today is the perfect time to celebrate your abilities and freedom to explore something new in your life, whether it be independently, or with a group of friends!

6 - GATHER FOR A MOVIE NIGHT

Whether it's in your backyard with a projector or at your local movie theater, you can celebrate by watching an inspiring documentary sharing stories from women across the United States. From stay at home mom's to circus performers, engineers, artists and CEO's, The Goddess Project documentary will surely leave you feeling uplifted and empowered. Grab some popcorn and plan your screening with The Goddess Project Screening Kits.

7 - VOLUNTEER

Help out some sisters in your community by volunteering for a local organization such as a women's shelter or homeless shelter. These types of organizations usually need donations, you could collect clothing or women's personal hygiene and sanitary products or host a donation drive. Perhaps there is a nonprofit doing great work in your area to support women. Research and reach out to see how you can support those in need.

8 - ORGANIZE & MOBILIZE

While we have come so far as women in this world, in many ways we still have so far to go. Find a cause that's important to you and spend the day working to support it. Whether it's attending a protest or planning an action to stand up for something you believe in, today is a great day to mobilize and remember what still needs to be fought for.

9 - SUPPORT LOCAL WOMEN OWNED BUSINESSES

There is nothing sweeter than sisterhood in your own community! If you are going to shop today, support local women owned businesses. A quick google search can show you where they are in your neighborhood, and some might even be hosting special events for IWD!

10 - ADMIRE THE WOMEN IN YOUR LIFE

Send an email or a text message. Make a flower bouquet. Write a letter. Plan a date. Reach out. Plan a girlfriend photoshoot. Take some time to connect with the women you love that have helped you become who you are today.

Happy International Women's Day + Women's History Month!
